How a creative technical-SEO approach — without rewriting a single product page — drove a 157% year-over-year lift in clicks for a Canadian insurance provider competing inside a larger platform.
We partnered with a Canadian-based insurance company — part of a larger US platform — offering home, auto, condo, tenant, farm, and commercial insurance. The goal was to differentiate the Canadian site and rank on page one in the Canadian market.
Because significant content changes to the product pages weren't possible, we leaned on technical SEO — restructuring navigation, subfolders, and metadata — to unlock visibility the pages had been leaving on the table.
The core challenge: the client couldn't make significant content changes to their product pages. Standard on-page rewrites were off the table, so improving visibility required a more creative, technical approach to SEO.
We restructured the site's dropdown navigation so each insurance product line was clearly surfaced and crawlable — strengthening internal linking and making the Canadian offerings easy for both users and search engines to reach.
We renamed the product subfolders from generic /product/ paths to keyword-rich /insurance/ paths — e.g. /insurance/home, /insurance/auto — signaling relevance to search engines without touching page copy.
We rewrote meta titles and H1 tags across the product lines to target high-value, market-specific insurance terms — improving relevance and click-through while leaving the protected body content untouched.
Technical restructuring — navigation, subfolders, and metadata — compounded into a 157% year-over-year increase in clicks, all without editing the protected product-page content.
When you can't change the copy, change the structure. Navigation, subfolders, and metadata can unlock major visibility gains — no page rewrites required.
